As a mom my first question about essential oils was are they safe for my son? The answer? Absolutely, when diluted properly and used appropriately.
Any essential oil using mother should own this book, Gentle Babies by Debra Raybern, it is absolutely invaluable. This book covers essential oils for pregnancy, babies, toddlers, and young children.
Now I am going to share with you how I use essential oils with my son who just turned two in April.
Young Living has an amazing kidscents line of prediluted blends specially formulated for children. My son loves the idea that he has his own special "oyals" (how he says oils)! If he needs something he knows exactly which oil to get and when! So adorable.

The first on our list, and by far the most used in our household, is the Owie blend. This blend includes idaho balsam fir, tea tree, elemi, cstus, hinoki, helicrysum italicum, and clove oil prediluted with coconut oil.
This blend is amazing for aiding the healing process of all bumps, bruises, and everyday owies. Perfect to have around a very active and accident prone little boy! Combined with a roller bottle fitment this oil never leaves my diaper bag.
The next kidscent oil up is the SleepIze blend. An amazing blend of lavnder, geranium, roman chamomile, tangerine, bergamot, sacred frankincense, valerian root, and rue oil. Not only do I diffuse this at night in his bedroom with his diffuser night light, I will also apply this behind his ears and on his neck when he is grumpy. This blend should have an alternate name; Crabby Kid BeGone! But in all truthfulness this can really turn my grumpy whiny two year old into his happy energetic self again! Truly gold in a bottle :)

This amazing blend right here is is a must have at all times! I think I have actually used this blend more times than Ethan has so far! Blended with spearmint, peppermint, tangerine, fennel, anise, ginger, and cardamom, this oil is a go to for anything upset tummy to cramps! It also smells like heaven to me!
I popped a roller bottle fitment onto this so I can just roll it right onto the area of desire!

This wonderful blend has not needed to be used in our home, thankfully, but I am sure it will be a must have come fall and winter. Eucalyptus blue, palo santo, lavender, dorado azul, ravintsara, myrtle, eucalyptus globulus, majoram, pine, eucalyptus citriodora, cypress, eucalyptus radiata, black spruce, and peppermint are blended together with coconut oil. I will have to check back in once we are able to use this!
On top of these amazing kidscents line I have a few other Young Living oils that are a must have for me as a mom!

The first on that list is lavender. This oil is the swiss army knife of essential oils. We use for pretty much everything in our house. We diffuse it at bedtime (mixed with sleepize since we all love the smell of lavender), mix it with coconut oil for moisturizer after bath time, apply it on the back of his neck during crabby periods, and most recently to minor sunburns for immediate relief!

Another one of my must have for kids list is Thieves. This is a one of a kind Young Living blend of clove, citrus limon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary specially formulated to support healthy immune function and to destroy nasty germs. The Essential Oil Desk Reference states, "Studies conducted at Weber State University (Ogden, UT) during 1997 showed the antibacterial effectiveness of the Thieves blend again airborne microorganisms. One study showed a 90 percent reduction in the number of gram positive Micrococcus luteus organisms after diffusing for 12 minutes. After 20 minutes of diffusing, the kill-rate jumped to 99.3 percent. Another study against the gram Pseudomonas aeruginosa showed a kill rate of 99.6 percent after just 12 minutes of diffusion."
Laborforlove blog has an amazing post explaining the scientific evidence behind Thieves. Check them out------> http://www.laborforlove.com/the-research-supporting-thieves.html

And lastly, as a mom, my must have is Young Livings blend Stress Away. I'm sure just by the name you can all guess why I keep this baby close to me AT ALL TIMES. This refreshing and relaxing blend of copaiba, lime, cedarwood, vanilla, ocotea, and lavender are just what I need during my stressful times of the day (nap time, dinner time, etc) It smells amazing and works almost instantly for me to feel relaxed and rejuvenated!
